Manchester Marathon was my 2nd marathon I had decided to take on with the Rob Burrow Leeds marathon being my first.
This year the marathon was more than just a normal marathon! It was all about raising the awareness of MND and helping make a difference. Since Leeds last year I have made more connections with in the MND community with people such as the lovely Lynn Pritchatt, Ian flatt, Marcus Stewart, James smith plus many more!
With already knowing my old school friend Jordan Pilkington who was diagnosed back in 2019 it was added motivation to hear everyone else’s stories and go out to try make a difference.
For this marathon I wanted to make it super special so along with my amazing partner Ness and my friend Andrea they helped bring my design to life and include everyone’s names from the MND community all imprinted in to the number seven. This number is a symbol of MND and its community.
Hearing everyone’s stories and knowing what these people were going through and trying to make a difference with the in the community this gave me the extra motivation I needed to go and smash this marathon out.
I am forever grateful for the support from my family, my amazing fiancée, my friends and the whole the MND community. I will continue to do what I can to help make a difference and raising money and awareness until we find a cure.
I am grateful to be involved with both the MNDA and the Mel Evans MBE foundation and helping in events and I hope to help in many more in the future.
